The Problem

We are failing our youth with mental health and addiction. Young people aged 15 to 24 are more likely to experience mental illness and/or substance use disorders than any other age group The opioid crisis and the legalization of marijuana will accelerate the problem.

70% of mental health problems have their onset during their childhood or adolescence

More than half of adolescents diagnosed with a mental health disorder also suffer from a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) – 55%

Suicide and accidents are the two leading causes of death for youth aged 15 to 19 in Canada and substance abuse is strongly correlated with both.
